This is a Certificate of Completion. There is no testing by a third party organization that is a Medical Massage Certification. There is no testing in each class to ensure that massage therapists understand are able to implement the theories and methods.

American Health Source INC. Michigan

Owner Gregory Lawton is at the center of American Health Source which says it is a membership association in addition to a CE provider. He made up an organization called “National Board Certification Agency (NBCA)” which “In 2005 the Center for Statistical Training and Consulting at Michigan State University completed the evaluation and assessment of the NBCA Medical Massage National Board Certification Examination. The completion of the statistical evaluation process adds credibility to the exam and makes it legally defensible. Since 2006, all NBCA exams undergo the process of statistical evaluation, assessment, and job task analysis.”

All NBCA National Board Certification and Diplomate Exams are administered and proctored through accredited college and university testing and examination centers and/or the library system whether nationally or internationally. In addition, several exams are available by online video testing. If you would like information regarding online video test from the comfort of your home or office please contact the NBCA. https://www.ahscentral.org/exammassage.htm

Misleading: Not a True Certification

I have yet to find a separate website for any organization called the “National Board Certification Agency (NCBA). In order to take the so called certification exam, one needs to first become a member of their association. To keep up your certification only classes that they offer qualify for their renewal requirements.

Learn how to assess musculoskeletal dysfunctions, myofascial restrictions and postural deviations that can cause chronic pain and misalignment; treat the musculature with deep tissue therapy and massage; and, rehabilitate the muscles using range of motion, passive stretching and strengthening techniques.”

Misleading: Not a True Certification

First off, Medial massage is not any one method or technique, nor is it sports massage or deep tissue massage. 650 hour program of basic massage school should be teaching the basic competencies as outline in the Entry Level Analysis Project (elapmassage.org)
