Help me out! I am creating the first ever public Massage Establishment Licensing Research Project to find out if Establishment Licensing is working to help reduce or stop unlicensed practice and illicit businesses hiding behind massage (SOB’s).
I have taken a the list of establishment licensing laws and listed them and started an analysis of them asking these 5 questions:
- What does the law actually require? (statutory requirements)
- Who bears the burden? (who is regulated, and who is exempt)
- What do the penalties look like? (civil fines, criminal charges, license revocation)
- What has changed since the law passed? (outcome data, enforcement history)
- What do LMTs in that state say? (primary research gap — this data does not yet exist). Survey started here.
I need your help!
I am asking that people from each state that already has establishment licensing to get involved and ask your state board for information on what they are doing with establishment licensing. I have complete directions on how to make the request here in a Google Doc. There is a form to fill out after you get the requested information to send it to me so I can add it to the study.
